Frontier Airlines has added four new non stop flights from the US to several of the most popular destinations across the Caribbean. The ultra low-cost carrier – which was recently ranked in the country’s top 10 airlines and was found to offer the cheapest flights of all US carriers – will have its new flights ready to go in just a few weeks, giving travelers even more options ahead of what looks like a record-breaking summer of travel this year.
A welcome change from the pandemic norm of airlines announcing route cuts and service alterations, Frontier’s decision to add new flights comes on the back of a wave of airlines striving to make the most of the renewed appetite for travel around the world. Here’s a closer look at Frontier’s new flight offerings, including where they’re going, when they will start and how often they will be.
Frontier’s New Flights – What Travelers Should Know
Whilst many airlines in the US have made significant cuts to their flight offerings in recent months, Frontier is on a roll when it comes to offering new flights to exciting international destinations. Just a few weeks ago in March, the airline added five new flights to Mexico to its roster, flying to destinations such as Monterrey, Guadalajara and Cancun – and this week the airline has revealed that it will be adding four more flights to popular Caribbean destinations.
Frontier is set to launch three new international routes, each of which will be departing from Florida’s Tampa International Airport. These flights will be heading to Punta Cana and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, as well as Montego Bay in Jamaica. Frontier will also be adding a flight to San Juan in Puerto Rico. Each of the new routes are set to begin in either June or July.
Frontier’s new route from Tampa to San Juan is set to start on June 23rd. This will be a daily, direct flight service, giving travelers plenty of flexibility when it comes to visiting Puerto Rico. As travelers may expect with Frontier, the prices for return flights between Tampa and San Juan are extremely low, with several different date options available for less than $200. Travelers looking for a long weekend in San Juan from July 7th to 11th can purchase tickets for just $198.
Daily flights to Santo Domingo will begin on June 30th, whilst flights to Punta Cana – which will be a frequency of just once per week – will start just a few days later on July 2nd. Flying to the Dominican Republic is extremely easy at present, with the country deciding to remove all of its Covid-19 related entry restrictions just last week – making it completely stress free. Tickets for these two routes are expected to go on sale very soon.
Seasonal flights to Montego Bay are set to begin on June 24th, and be available through to Labor Day. Two flights per week will be available, and return tickets are available for just over $200. Like the Dominican Republic, Jamaica has also removed its entry requirements in the last month, making entering the country extremely easy for travelers.
Frontier isn’t the only airline adding to its international route offerings in recent days. American, Spirit and Volaris have each added flights from the US to Mexican cities in recent days, as airlines work around the clock to ensure that there are enough options to suit what could well be unprecedented demand this summer.
